This morning, I had the immense pleasure of running in the Marais des Bidonnes in Divonne-les-Bains, a place I visit regularly during my morning runs. It's a magical place, so rejuvenating, that I wanted to share some photos and information here with those who may not be familiar with it.
You can access the Marais des Bidonnes by crossing the wooden footbridge at the eastern end of Lake Divonne-les-Bains, crossing the road opposite the Forestland car park.
The marsh is approximately 2 km long and has been equipped with wooden footbridges. Of course, in wet weather, the paths are muddy, so make sure you wear suitable footwear!
At the exit of the marsh, you will arrive at the Crassy Pond.
The Marais des Bidonnes is a vast marshy area classified as a ‘Sensitive Natural Area’ (ENS) by the Department of Ain. I won't go into detail about what you can see there, but leave you to discover it for yourself. The Marais des Bidonnes is a peaceful place, rich in nature — wet meadows, alder groves, marshes — and biodiversity. It reminds us of the importance of wetlands for both fauna and flora and for water management. It combines a strong natural dimension with a landscape history marked by human development and preservation. Every time I walk through it, I feel like I'm in a timeless place that offers a breath of fresh air.
To get back, I have to walk along Lake Divonne, which is also a delight in all seasons!

I hope you enjoyed the photos from my morning run! I start the day with sunshine in my heart, reminding me how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place, right on the border with Switzerland.
